Rock and Run for Recovery: A Two-Day Community Festival Celebrating Recovery with Concerts ~Artisan Fest~ 5K Run/Walk on South Lido Beach

On October 21-21, 2012  Sarasota and Manatee Counties came together for a 2-day festival Celebrating Recovery on South Lido Beach Park. The evening concert and first ROR run walk brought out about 500 people for the two-day event. It was a glorious evening and a glorious next day. We want to thank Diane Lyons of Shamrockers and New Balance for creating the run-walk, and help with the beautiful T-shirts, the Guitar Center for the guitars that were raffled, Tim Wilkins for his hilarious MCing. Barb McSweeney for her donation of a beautiful bracelet prize for the winner of the 5k race, Road Recovery for traveling to Sarasota from New York, Twinkle for her beautiful performance and band. The City of Sarasota and Sarasota County were both sponsors and helped with permitting and costs for the mobile stage, which looked fabulous out on the beach. The Fire Department came out to watch over us. It was a magical event.
